“Águas Guariroba Environmental Journalism Prize” is a company initiative to encourage the production of reports on the importance of sanitation in Campo Grande and to recognize the role of journalists and the media in the dissemination of ideas and actions that contribute to the environment and people welfare.
The idea is that the reports on TV stations, radio, newspapers and internet help to disseminate information about sanitation, increasing the knowledge and awareness of the population about the importance of water and the sewage treated for the environment and public health, contributing to sustainable development of Campo Grande. In 2012, 33 relevant studies were enrolled in the award.
In addition to trophy and certificate, the authors of the best articles in each category receive a cash prize. To encourage journalism students to become interested in the subject sanitation even before entering in newsrooms, in addition to professional categories, a specific award was created to academics.
The Environmental Journalism Award is launched during the week of celebrations of World Water Day (March 22). The jury responsible for choosing the best materials is formed by professionals with experience in communications, environment and sanitation. The award ceremony is held in October, commemorating Águas Guariroba anniversary.
